Foundations have been cast, brickwork is being laid and cottages are being purchased. One can tell that once sleepy Napier Retirement Village is filled with activity. Architect, Nic Border, recently met with the purchasers of Cottages at Napier Retirement Village to find out why they chose to retire in Napier. Read the interviews with the Chadwicks and Mansfields below. We'll be catching up with the third set of purchasers shortly, as they were off holidaying in Britannia Bay. General Manager, Eksteen Odendal, has shared his views on the advantages of Napier Retirement Village as well as his role on site. Please visit the website, www.napiervillage.co.za for more information.
Becoming involved with Napier Retirement Village was almost natural to Eksteen, since the Village has been constructed on the old school grounds – of which Eksteen was the last head boy before the school changed locations. He's proud to see the old buildings transformed into a beautiful retirement village. Having grown up in Napier, Eksteen has many fond memories of the area and looks forward to making many more. He approached the architect of the project after a weekend visit – it was something he knew he wanted to be a part of. In Eksteen's view, the most unique aspect of Napier Retirement Village is the old Victorian style of the converted school building with its wooden floors, high ceilings and rich history so beautifully restored. This too is the most appealing aspect of Napier Village in his opinion – working in the old school so deeply steeped in memories. "The greatest benefits of Napier are the country lifestyle, the charming and safe village atmosphere, the kind-hearted and supportive community and the lovely restaurants," says Eksteen. |

Purchaser FeaturePurchasers of Cottage 23: The MansfieldsThe Mansfields, purchasers of cottage 23 in Napier Retirement Village, have been holidaying in Struisbaai for a number of years and are connected to the area. They plan on handing over their Struisbaai holiday house to their children to use for holidays and they'll be moving to Napier Village from Pretoria, making the transition process an easy one. They love the quiet, country lifestyle and feel that Napier is centrally positioned within the Overberg. Napier Retirement Village provides an intimate country experience that other larger developments cannot offer. Purchasers of Cottage 15: The ChadwicksMichael and Anna Chadwick purchased cottage 15 in Napier Retirement Village. They were attracted by the fine quality of the gracious old buildings, with fine attention to detail keeping the "Old School" looking almost exactly as it did in its heyday; as well as the indigenous gardens and stunning views. The Chadwicks first heard about Napier Retirement Village over Cape Talk radio and are most looking forward to being a part of a community based on a mutual appreciation for a quieter and safer life than that of the suburbs and enjoying the passing of the seasons in the views from the magnificent windows overlooking rural fields. They are happy to know that as they grow older, help will be on hand in the form of the facilities offered by the Retirement Village and are comforted to know a guest room is available for any family members who come to visit. They are most impressed by the kindness and courtesy with which they have been received at the village by the manager, Mr. Eksteen Odendal, his wife – who is the nursing sister – and the domestic staff. |
